**Trugain (Minoxidil Topical Solution) Summary**
**Indications**
* **Male Androgenetic Alopecia:** Treatment of male pattern hair loss on the scalp (vertex).
* **Female Androgenetic Alopecia:** Treatment of female pattern hair loss on the scalp.
**Mechanism & Pharmacology**
* **Class:** Scalp preparation / Vasodilator.
* **Action:** Stimulates hair growth and reverses the miniaturization of hair (conversion of vellus hair back to terminal, thicker hair).
* **Proposed Mechanisms:**
* Microvascular vasodilation around hair follicles.
* Direct stimulation of hair follicle cells to proliferate.
* Induction of the growth phase (anagen) in resting (telogen) follicles.
**Dosage & Administration**
* **General Guidelines:** Apply directly to clean, healthy scalp at the center of the affected area using 1 mL (7 sprays) twice daily. The daily total should not exceed 2 mL. Wash hands thoroughly after application.
* **Minoxidil 2% Solution:** Suitable for both men and women. Standard dose is 1 mL (20 mg) twice daily.
* **Minoxidil 5% Solution:** Formulated for men only. Standard dose is 1 mL (50 mg) twice daily.
**Drug Interactions**
* **Topical Agents (e.g., Tretinoin, Dithranol):** Co-application alters the stratum corneum barrier, enhancing systemic absorption of Minoxidil.
* **Peripheral Vasodilators:** Theoretical risk of potentiating orthostatic hypotension due to systemic absorption.
**Contraindications**
* History of hypersensitivity to Minoxidil or product components.
* Treated or untreated hypertension.
* Abnormal or compromised scalp conditions (e.g., sunburn, psoriasis, cuts, or shaved scalp).

**Pregnancy & Lactation**
