Indications & Mechanism
• Usage: Used for the acute relief and prevention of chest pain (angina pectoris) caused by coronary artery disease.
• Mechanism: Relaxes vascular smooth muscle to dilate veins and arteries, reducing the heart's workload and oxygen demand.
Dosage & Administration
• Sublingual Tablet (0.5 mg): Dissolve 1 tablet under the tongue at the first sign of an attack. Repeat every 5 minutes if needed.
• Metered Dose Spray (400 mcg/spray): Administer 1–2 sprays under the tongue at the onset of an attack. Can also be used 5–10 minutes before triggering activities.
• 15-Minute Limit: Do not exceed 3 tablets or 3 sprays within a 15-minute period. If chest pain persists after 3 doses, seek emergency medical care immediately.
• Spray Guidelines: Use while sitting down. Spray directly under the tongue, close your mouth immediately, and avoid swallowing, spitting, or rinsing for 5–10 minutes. Do not inhale or shake the canister.
Spray Priming Instructions
• First Use: Press the grooved button 5 times into the air away from people.
• Re-priming: Press 1 time if unused for 6 weeks; press up to 5 times if unused for 3 months.
Contraindications & Drug Interactions
• Do Not Use With: PDE5 inhibitors (Sildenafil, Vardenafil, Tadalafil), as the combination causes dangerously low blood pressure.
• Contraindicated In: Severe anemia, increased intracranial pressure, shock, or acute circulatory failure.
• Interactions: Alcohol, blood pressure medications, beta-blockers, and aspirin can enhance its blood pressure-lowering effect.
Side Effects & Storage
• Common Side Effects: Headache, flushing, and low blood pressure (hypotension).
• Storage: Store below 25°C in a dry place protected from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
