Salflu contains the combination of Salmeterol and Fluticasone Propionate, which is a widely used maintenance therapy for the long-term management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It utilizes a synergistic approach by pairing Salmeterol, a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) that provides sustained bronchodilation by relaxing airway smooth muscle, with Fluticasone Propionate, a potent inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) that reduces underlying airway inflammation and hyper-reactivity. This dual action helps to prevent bronchospasms, improve lung function, and reduce the frequency of exacerbations over a 12-hour period. While highly effective for routine control, this inhaler is not intended for the relief of acute symptoms, which still require a fast-acting rescue inhaler.
