Angilock plus contains the fixed-dose combination of Losartan Potassium and Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ), a synergistic antihypertensive therapy used to manage hypertension when monotherapy is insufficient. Losartan acts as an Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker (ARB), preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone release by selectively blocking the AT1 receptor. In contrast, Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that inhibits sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules, reducing blood volume. Combining these two agents provides a dual mechanism of action—targeting both the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) and fluid volume—which typically results in a greater reduction in blood pressure than either drug used alone.
